In the Spotlight

A few months ago, Walgreens had this really great deal on Sinful Colors’ nail polishes for $1.00 a bottle. It was around the time when the Spring 2013 Collections were released. I picked up four from the Sugar Rush Collection which contained all pastel colors. Then there was the Almost Famous Collection which were all glitter packed and, unfortunately, I only bought a couple polishes from the Almost Famous Collection. The one I used today is In the Spotlight which is a sheer green shimmer base with what look like pink, green, yellow, and glitters. Kind of makes me think of Mardi Gras in a way.  When I first bought it I was slightly disappointed by the swatch because it was very sheer and the green tinted base was, well, a little on the ugly side so it sat in my polish drawer for months being untouched. When I was deciding what to do with my nails last night, I wanted to use one that I hadn’t yet used or didn’t use often so this finally came out of hibernation.

This is two coats of OPI’s Thanks a Windmillion from their Spring 2012 Holland Collection along with two coats of In the Spotlight and one coat of Sally Hansen Snowglobe to add a little iridescence.

I’ve learned that with nail polishes, you can’t really decide if you like a color simply on your first impression of it. I hated this polish when I first got it but now seeing it layered with a base color and a little iridescent glitter in the mix, it is B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. The glitter in Snowglobe is very sparse so it doesn’t add too much to the look but the little iridescent glitter that you do see really give this mani that final touch. I’m actually regretting not getting others from the Almost Famous Collection.

Here’s a macro shot of it.

Friday mani + Pacifica Sea Foam Complete Face Wash

I haven’t been buying a whole lot of nail polishes lately. Why? The colors I find in stores are either too common/boring or I have them already and/or they’re more than I want to spend and I’m not buying indies because there are just way too many beautiful combinations that people are coming up with that I can’t choose. On my latest Target run, though, I still peeked through the cosmetics aisles (force of habit). I found this pretty polish from the Nicole by OPI Selena Gomez collection. I could care less for her but I loved the nail polishes, especially one that I picked up which is called Inner Sparkle. It’s a pretty clear base glitter filled with lilac and light dusty rose pink hexes and micro gold glitter. Sorry I didn’t take a macro of the bottle. It applies evenly in one coat and not a whole lot of glitter fishing is required.

Anywho, I used it on a mani the other day but I ended up taking it off… only to use it again.

Here I used three coats of Sally Hansen Hardcore Party which is a light pink color more on the sheer cream side. I probably could have stood one more coat to get it more opaque. On the tips I used a generous layer of Inner Sparkle (I used the dabbing method) along with one layer of Glamorous from the Wet n Wild Fergie Collection to add some medium gold hex glitter as well as one layer of Nina gold holographic topcoat all topped with NYC clear topcoat. The NYC clear topcoat is one of my absolute faves. It dries super fast and high gloss.

Here’s a closer look of one of my nails with this beautiful glitter combination… and my dry cuticles.

The colors of Inner Sparkle are similar to Revlon Girly with the pink and purple hex glitters but inner Sparkle is on the lighter side with gold glitter in addition to its clear base. I think I much prefer Inner Sparkle.

The other day, I also posted my May Ipsy glambag. I took advantage of one of the Ipsy deals for once and made a purchase with Pacifica. By stacking a few different coupons, I was able to get the Sea Foam Complete Face Wash, the Color Quench Lip Tint in sugared fig, and nine of the solid perfume samples all for under $20 and that was with free shipping! Yeah, I went a little overboard with the perfume samples.

I haven’t used any of the perfume samples yet nor the lip tint. The thing I was most excited about was the sea foam face wash. The product smells just like coconut and so yummy yet not overpowering. Out of the tube it is a gel that is a bit on the runny side but it lathers up nicely and, just like it claims, the product took off all of my makeup. My previous face washes also exfoliated but this doesn’t so I use a little bit of my Berry Grand super exfoliating beads from Avon.

I’ve only used it twice, before going to bed last night and when I woke up this morning. I don’t expect anything to happen but I’ll post again in the future to let you know how my skin reacts to this product. Retail I believe is $11 but you’ll get a greater deal just by watching out for coupons and purchasing it online like I did.

Did you use of of this month’s Ipsy deals? What did you grab up?
