I’m a little late getting to this post. I took all the pictures and everything last week but I just never got a chance to sit at the computer. Anywho, the theme for this month’s Ipsy glambag is “Pretty in Pink.” So, as usual, everything comes packed into a makeup pouch and I have to say I love the way this one looks:
Cute, right? The outside is a cotton canvas-y type of material in white and not exactly my first choice of color (since it won’t be white after one use) but it is definitely striking against the pink zipper. The inside has a white and pink striped lining.
Here is what I got in this month’s bag:
After the disappointment that was last month’s bag, I got back to thinking about cancelling my subscription and, as usual, I ended up procrastinating. Next thing you know, I’ve got an email saying my glambag is on the way– doh! It’s a good thing I didn’t cancel because the April bag turned out to be pretty good, not my first choices in color but all useable.
1. Sation nail lacquer in “Love at First Byte”
So with the “Pretty in Pink” theme, I would have expected the nail polish to be, well… pink. This ended up being more on the peach/coral side. Despite my disappointment in my non-pink nail polish color, if you can look past that then Love at First Byte is a pretty peach that I can see complimenting most if not all skin tones. The formula is very smooth and it applies to the nails well, however, after applying four coats it still wasn’t the opacity that I like my nail polish to be. This would be great with the right glitter as a jelly sandwich.
2. Be a Bombshell blush in Beach Please
I’ll admit, I’m not a blush fanatic. I think it’s the fact that I can tend to get lazy to blend and end up with streaks of color on my cheeks. That aside, I still like to have a couple go-to colors and a couple fun colors, you know, just in case ;). When I first saw the fun, simple packaging of this blush I thought, full-size product woooo! Then I read the name and giggled to myself… OK, I read the name, giggled to myself, though how clever!, THEN I said full-size product woooo!
Beach Please is a pigmented, bold pink blush that is just a bit too bold for me. I honestly cannot see myself walking around with this on my cheeks. I know other people can pull it off and it will look AH-mazing but that person isn’t me. It’s a gorgeous color though and I’d more than likely use it as an eyeshadow.
3. Sexy Hair’s HealthSexyHair Soy Renewal Nourishing Styling Treatment
Here is the description from the Sexy Hair website:
“SOY RENEWAL is a nourishing styling treatment made with Moroccan Argan Oil that addresses moisture, frizz, smoothness, elasticity and shine concerns. Also protects from environmental stresses and reduces drying time.”
I have yet to try this product but I am definitely looking forward to trying it on my admittedly frizzy, dry, damaged hair.
Update 4/21/13: So I tried this in my hair yesterday morning. I rubbed a few drops in my palms to liquify it more then distributed it throughout my hair while it air dried then flat ironed. My hair felt greasy the entire day! Needless to say, I washed my hair again when I got home. Maybe I’ll give a try later on down the line but for now I’ll stick with my go-to product which is Garnier Sleek & Shine Moroccan Sleek Oil Treatment.
4. MICA Beauty Cosmetics Shimmer Powder in Earth
I’ve gotten a few of the MICA Beauty products in previous bags but not a shimmer powder. The powder feels finely milled and Earth is a very useable color especially for someone like me who does natural to no makeup besides foundation and eyeliner. This is pretty as an all-over eyelid color or on the inner corners of your eye.
Thanks, Ipsy, for not screwing up the bags this month. It was totally worth the $10.90 (I live in CA so I get charged sales tax -_-). I forget where but I read somewhere that the May bag “won’t disappoint” so we’ll see.
